BILBAO - SAN JUAN DE GAZTELUGATXE - BERMEO - MUNDAKA - GERNIKA

If you like picture-postcard landscapes and winding roads, you’ll love this route. And you won’t need to go far from Bilbao. Visit emblematic beaches like Bakio or Mundaka, picturesque places like Oma Forest or San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and historic towns like Gernika.

Las Encartaciones region is the great unknown of Bizkaia

The Cadagua corridor makes it much easier to access Las Encartaciones. The area is now just a stone’s throw away. Passing through Güeñes, Gordexola and Zalla, you will reach Balmaseda, a beautiful medieval town with its Puente Viejo (Old Bridge).

LIVING PASSION

The representation of the Passion of Christ every Easter in Balmaseda attracts thousands of worshippers to this ancient tradition. However, this route is also of interest during the rest of the year, with museums like the Casa de Juntas de Avellaneda, natural landscapes like Karpin Abentura or the spectacular Pozalagua Cave, ending with an icon of Bizkaia: The Portugalete Suspension Bridge.

BILBAO - VITORIA - SALINAS DE AÑANA -  LAGUARDIA

On this route you will visit Vitoria, with its spacious green areas and its modernised medieval quarter. After this, you will contemplate one of the most unusual landscapes in the Basque Country at Saliñas de Añana. You will end the route in the Rioja Alavesa region, famous for its wine cellars and excellent wines.

BILBAO - MONDRAGÓN - OÑATI - ARANTZAZU

This visit allows you to discover towns with their own legends, like Mondragón, natural settings like the Urkullu Reservoir, Oñati, which Zuloaga called "La Toledo Vasca" (the Basque Toledo) or the magical Arantzazu Sanctuary, on the edge of a precipice.
