BILBAO - VITORIA - SALINAS DE AÑANA -  LAGUARDIA

Head towards the capital of Álava along the AP-68. Vitoria is one of the cities with the highest quality of life in Europe, thanks to its extensive green areas, its modernised medieval quarter and balanced development.

Salinas de AñanaYou can stretch your legs after an hour’s journey, to visit the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca, the epicentre of the city and the scene of the popular “Bajada del Celedón” (lowering of the Celedón) which marks the start of its annual festivities.

The viewpoint that is the Paseo de los Arquillos, Bendaña Palace, which is home to the Fournier de Naipes Museum and the Parque de la Florida (botanical gardens with ponds, mounds and trees that hide romantic spots and an emblematic bandstand) which are also worth a visit.

LaguardiaNow take the A-2622 from VITORIA to SALINAS DE AÑANA. The salt collection structure offers one of the most surprising images of the Basque Country.

Then take the AP-68 and after 20 Km, the N-124 will take you to LAGUARDIA, famous for its underground wine cellars in which excellent wines from the Rioja Alavesa region are stored.

The wine capital preserves many of its thick city walls which were built in the 13th century, offering a pedestrianised town centre that is a joy to walk through.

Laguardia PalaceLaguardia Palace is on the outskirts of LAGUARDIA, and you will also discover the prehistoric town of La Hoya and a protected biotope formed by four small wetlands.

Return to Vitoria along the A-124 and A-2124 to later take the AP-68 back to the capital of Bizkaia.
